Case Study: Violetta Rossa
Brand Identity / Strategy / Design
Project Overview
In this branding project for the fashion designer Violetta Rossa.
The brief called for a visual identity that could embody her ethos of style, elegance, and sophistication while also giving the brand a recognisable and timeless signature.
The challenge was to create a logo and monogram that would not only distinguish the brand but also seamlessly translate across multiple applications from print to product labels.

Research & Concept Development
During the initial research phase, I explored the delicate balance between modern minimalism and classic luxury cues often seen in high-end fashion branding. Typography played a central role in this exploration, as I wanted the brand’s personality to shine through its lettering.
The breakthrough came with the letters V and R, the initials of the designer’s name. I noticed the potential of extending their ascenders and descenders to create a continuous, flowing monogram. This design decision gave the symbol a regal, elevated feel, while retaining a contemporary sharpness due to the clean, modern typeface.
Visual Language & Colour Palette
Colour plays a defining role in fashion branding. For Violetta Rossa, I chose black as the core identity colour. Black is synonymous with strength, mystery, and timeless style, making it the perfect backdrop for a brand that positions itself at the intersection of luxury and modernity.
The restrained palette also allowed the monogram and logo to stand out as the hero element, ensuring instant recognition and a sense of exclusivity.
Logo & Monogram Design
Monogram: The interplay of V and R forms a dynamic mark, embodying both strength and elegance. The extended strokes lend the logo a regal yet minimalist quality, perfectly aligned with the brand’s values.
Wordmark: Paired with the monogram, the full logotype was designed in a clean, modern font, ensuring versatility across digital and print touchpoints.
Together, they create a cohesive brand mark that feels both timeless and adaptable.

Brand Applications
The branding was carefully adapted to extend into various communication materials, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints. Applications included:
-
Stationery: Business cards, letterheads, and envelopes that carried the monogram as a subtle yet striking watermark.
-
Stickers & Packaging: Minimalist black-and-white stickers and packaging materials enhanced the sense of luxury while maintaining practicality.
